Musical Performances at 12:30 and 2:00 p.m.
$7.50 online / $10 at the gate
Members always receive complimentary
garden admission for two, no registration.
 

Join us at the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden for our annual Lunar New Year Festival, offering a chance to enjoy the art and music of Japan, China and Korea, and participate in crafts for children and adults alike. The festival is presented in partnership with the Cultural News newspaper, the leading source in southern California for Japanese art and cultural event information. 

Festival highlights include:

  • Special performances of traditional Japanese Minyo (Folk Music): Performed by Mme. Matsutoyo Sato, Matsutoyo Sakura and Matsutoyo Aoi on vocals and shamisen at 12:30 and 2pm.
  • Korean Minhwa Folk Painting workshops: Sponsored and led by the Korean Cultural Center
  • Chinese Flower Arranging: Talks and demonstrations by the Chinese Floral Arts Foundation-USA Charter
  • Asian-inspired fashion by Citron and accessories for sale by Tai-Ling Wong
  • The new exhibition, Shizen: Depictions of Nature in Japanese Art on view in the garden’s En Gallery
  • Japanese art, decorative treasures, and gifts in the Takara-ten Gift Shop

The Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden is open to the public every Sunday and Wednesday through Friday from 10am to 4pm. Closed on Saturdays.

  • Registration is recommended but same day walk-ins are welcome
  • Children 12 and under are free
  • Registration closes the day before at 5pm
  • The garden is wheelchair accessible. Sorry, no pets allowed
  • Open rain or shine (the garden is beautiful in the rain). We are not able to issue refunds.
