Description

Closing Reception for Brushstrokes and Blooms
Meet Shizuko Greenblatt in En Gallery
Second Sunday, April 8
2pm - 4pm

Join us for a last chance to see the exhibition Brushstrokes and Blooms: The Calligraphy and Ikebana of Shizuko Greenblatt in En Gallery at the Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden. Artist Shizuko Greenblatt will be at the gallery for a Q&A with En Gallery curator and Japanese art historian Meher McArthur - and tea and cookies.

Shizuko was born into a samurai family, and trained in various artistic traditions as a child in Japan including painting, calligraphy, sculpture and flower arrangement. Now based in Los Angeles, she has focused her artistic talents for the past 25 years on dynamic expressionistic paintings that incorporate traditional calligraphy and mixed-media sculptural works and installations informed and inspired by her ikebana skills. As she bridges East and West and unites the worlds of ikebana, contemporary sculpture, painting and calligraphy, Greenblatt aims to “uplift the human soul."
