6/29 Members' Celebration of the Path

Summary

THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED

Description

Thanks to the generosity of one of our treasured members, we have restored the path originally created in the late thirties by first-generation immigrant, Kinzuchi Fujii, when he designed and built the garden on the Storrier Stearns estate. The overgrown path has been uncovered and landscaped, and steps and railings have been installed.

We invite our members to explore this new dimension of the garden and mark this milestone with us. A special treat will be to hear from one of the best and oldest friends of the garden, Kendall Brown, Professor of Asian Art History at California State University, Long Beach, prolific author, and leading figure in the study of Japanese gardens in North America.

Ken is a fascinating speaker, always with something new to learn about Japanese gardens, their historical significance and current relevance. He will bring copies of his books to sell and sign during the evening.

We will also hold a raffle so we can share a work of art with our members by one of the artists featured in the En Gallery.
