A Taste of Japan 2019
A Delicious Fundraiser to Support the
Storrier Stearns Japanese Garden

This event was so popular last year we sold out so make your reservations soon! Join us for a unique and entertaining evening as we celebrate Japan’s rich culture of dining and drinking traditions. Stroll the garden sampling delicious treats from food and drink stations, listening to music and enjoying nature, art and conversation with friends old and new.

This year we will welcome a special guest from Japan, classical dancer Umekawa Ichinosuke, who will perform a demonstration of classical dance.
 

Some of the culinary delights and drinks on the menu are:

Okonomi-yaki (Japanese “pancakes”) provided by Otafuku Foods Inc.
Organic Rice Balls crafted by Mickie Matsuzaki with Wholesome Essence Organic Rice, donated by Shumei of America
Tofu and Soba Salad, Chicken Katsu and Crab Croquettes from Delicatessen by Osawa
Asian Slaw by the Kitchen for Exploring Foods
Toki and other Whiskies by Beam Suntory
A sampling of Jizake (local sake) donated by Pacific International Liquor
Hakutsuru Premium “Ginjo” Sake, Sayuri Nigori Sake
Shochu donated by Yatsushika Brewery of Kokonoe, Kusu in Kyushu
Iced and hot Japanese teas – both caffeinated and decaf brewed by our own licensed sencha expert Patti Harrison
 
 

Japanese art treasures and gift certificates for fun local services will be for sale in our Silent Auction.

En Gallery will also be featuring an exhibition of tea ceramics and prints for sale by local artist Julie Bagish, whose work has been profoundly inspired by Japanese art and culture.
